In this Fragrance Story, I review one of my favourite eau de parfums from Giorgip Armani " My Way". "My Way" eau de parfum is also sustainable and created to achieve carbon neutrality.
I'll start my review by setting out below how Giorgio Armani describes this gorgeous fragrance.
Giorgio Armani describes "My Way" as:
My Way Eau de Parfum is the scent of discoveries and connections for an openminded, curious and authentic woman who is ready to broaden her horizons and live meaningful encounters around the world.
This floral fragrance for her is an encounter of consciously sourced ingredients. Bergamot meets orange blossom from Egypt in a luminous, sparkling start. An amplified bright floral bouquet of tuberose and jasmine from India is the beating heart of this fascinating scent. Finally, a vibrant cedarwood from Virginia meets a sensual vanilla from Madagascar and comforting white musks to sign the composition.
The blue and gold cap of the refillable perfume is a metaphor of the world. The blue is the universal color that unites all of us. It is englobed by a golden ring, stamped with the Giorgio Armani signature, a symbol of a unique path that is illuminated by every encounter along the way.
It is a talisman that encapsulates all encounters that matter. I AM WHAT I LIVE.
The My Way fragrance is inspired by a genuine search for meaning and authenticity that lies outside oneself, that creates a more profound way of being. The fragrance captures a spirit of curiosity and connection. Through the influence of serendipitous encounters and new experiences, and an openness to others, one discovers one’s own multifaceted depths. Intimate yet universal, “I am what I live” encapsulates this ethos.
The notes are:
BERGAMOT FROM CALABRIA & ORANGE BLOSSOM FROM EGYPT The sparkling start of the fragrance. The orange blossom perfume note, extracted from hand-picked bitter orange fruits in Egypt, is created using an entirely natural enfleurage extraction process TUBEROSE & JASMINE FROM INDIA The bright floral heart of the fragrance is a contemporary interpretation of iconic flowers. The Indian tuberose flower is sourced and hand-picked near Mysore, India, in the state of Karnataka. CEDARWOOD FROM VIRGINIA, VANILLA FROM MADAGASCAR & WHITE MUSKS The enveloping vibrant base of the composition. Vanilla is sourced through a sustainable and responsible program designed to support local communities in Madagascar.
The Creator:
Created by Master perfumer Carlos Benaïm and senior perfumer Bruno Jovanovic (IFF), My Way perfume is a contemporary floral fragrance with a fusion of white flowers at its heart. Together, the perfumers have searched the globe to select the finest, most beautiful ingredients to tell My Way’s story, taking the senses on an olfactory journey.
The artisanal approach finally translates in the manual weighing and blending of the fragrance’s concentrate in Grasse creates pure, highly-refined notes with enhanced radiance and naturality.
My Thoughts on "My Way" Eau de Parfum by Giorgio Armani:
The Bottle: The Giorgio Armani "My Way" bottle is absolutely exquisite! It is very much like the super luxe Armani Prive fragrances with the precious stone cap. "My Way" has a cap that very much echoes the Armani Prive fragrances. The squarish glass bottle is heavy and feels ver luxurious to touch. The blue glass cap is encircled with a gold metal strip that has "Giorgio Armani" engraved in it. I think it is stunning bottle. The EDP liquid looks "lit from within" and has a rosy glow.
Sustainability: In the photos below, you will be able to see that Giorgio Armani has created "My Way" as being refillable. They have created a refill for "My Way", that contains three bottles worth (150ml). This, plus the fact that the bottle is mostly made from recyclable materials (glass and metal), adds to the allure of this fragrance. This is part of Giorgio Armani's commitment to reducing carbon emissions and use of plastics (see below).
The Scent: This is a "Floral Woody" fragrance. I would describe it as being a bit sweet in the most pleasant of ways.
I love the Top notes of Bergamot and Orange Blossom, they come across as juicy and ripe - delicious enough to make your mouth water. The Middle notes of Tuberose and Jasmine are delicate and I think make this fragrance appealing to most people. I love the Base notes of cedar wood and vanilla. I'm crazy for any fragrance that has a vanilla base. Overall, I'm a big fan of this fragrance as it contains most of my favourite notes.
The Dry Down: The dry down is delightful. Once it starts to "mature" past the juicy fruity top notes, it becomes a rather romantic fragrance with the rose, jasmine, cedar wood and vanilla. The dry down is where you get the "floral woody" notes lightly balanced with the citrus notes.
The Tastes: Like a yummy vanilla frosted lemon cheesecake. Or a rose champagne. Very delicious.
The Colours: I "see' sparkling blue and pink jewel tones. "My Way" sparkles from within.
The Feelings: "My Way" makes me feel happy. lifted and content. It might seem odd to use "content" as a description, but to me "contentment" is a form of happiness/well being. Giorgio Armani describes the ethos of "My Way" as being “I am what I live”. I think that message has contentment and self acceptance in it.
The Wear Time: Very good. It lasted about6-8 hours on me. As it dries down and "matures", it becomes more rounded and soft.
Suggested occasions to wear this: This is a great "All Occasions" fragrance. I love all of the notes in it, so I would wear it everyday. What I love is that this is a "user friendly" fragrance that isn't overpowering. I love how it makes me feel as well.
Overall: The design of the bottle, the fragrance notes and formula, plus the fact that you can get a refill (that refills this bottle three times) is worth five stars out of five to me. It is luxurious and one that you can wear everyday for all occasions. Plus, it is sustainably packaged.,
Sustainability: The Refill System and Eco Friendly
The refill is 150ml and is a fairly easy to use. Giorgio Armani states that: This innovative system allows any of the spray bottles to be refilled seamlessly, reducing the carbon emissions by -60%* and the use of plastic by -64%*."
Also most of the ingredients in "My Way" are natural ingredients, many of which are responsibly and sustainably sourced (see description of ingredients above).
Further as part of Giorgio Armani's commitment to reducing carbon emissions and being more sustainable, Giorgio Armani is committed to forest preservation programs in Madagascar, Zimbabwe, Peru & Brazil. Since the launch of this program, more than 15 000 hectares of primary forest have been preserved to reduce its environmental footprint and preserve biodiversity.
