It's great that Mecca Cosmetica tells when the Holiday releases are coming and I have often seen many beauty enthusiasts crowding outside various Mecca stores early in the morning, waiting eagerly for the doors to open so that they can be the first ones to get their hands on the goodies!!

Let's start with Too Faced. O.K. I think we all know how good Too Faced products are. Their fairly affordable and the quality is good.
AND... their packaging is just too too cute! This year's Holiday Releases have a "New York" theme about them. If you ever get the chance to spend Christmas in New York, DO IT!!! It's fab! Central Park, Time Square, etc is decorated and the whole place feels so festive.
The Grande Hotel Café is the Too Faced connoisseurs' dream. It is similar to last year's Too Faced Le Grand Chateau Holiday Set.
It is in the shape of a building and is about the same size as last's year's mega palette offering.
In this one you get three palettes (Peppermint Mocha, Gingerbread Coffee and Eggnog Latte) that all smell quite delicious and a deluxe sized Better Than Sex mascara.

Each palette comes with 6 pigmented eyeshadows. Two of the palettes: Peppermint Mocha and Eggnog Latte also include a blush. The Gingerbread Coffee palette comes with a bronzer. You can even split the pack up and use each palette as a stocking stuffer.
THIS IS VALUE FOR MONEY. It get a big bang for your buck. The eyeshadows all perform well and so do the face products. You get enough variety of shades (some you can get from the existing palettes) and each palette is quite thin and sturdy (perfect for travel). The display case is super cute and now sits next to my Too Faced Le Grand Chateau Set.

The display case for the "Merry Macarons Set" is super cute with a pop up design inside of skating at the Rink at Rockefeller Centre. You get 12 eyeshadows, all in very wearable shades and a mini Better Than Sex Mascara. The display case is a fairly plain pink case (not quite display worthy).
Like most collectible Too Faced items, this one smells of vanilla. Dreamy.

The By Terry Impearlious Voile De Perle Compact is just a stunner. Both the compact and the pressed and embossed powders. You get a mix of rich ivory, iridescent golden amber and flattering pink colours in By Terry's slik formula which helps blur the imperfections on your skin. There is a slight scent, like a touch of rose and jasmine. The compact is ROSE GOLD. The cover is smooth and it comes with a velvet pouch. Lovely and a great addition to any makeup lover's treasure trove.

The By Terry Impearlious Baume De Rose Gift Collection contains 5 different shades of By Terry's famous Baume de Rose in a lip gloss format. The colours differ from year to year very slightly but I have to say these ones have a bit of sparkle in them (not quit as metallic as they may look). Last year's version did not have any sparkles in them.

Very nourishing, plumping and smoothing. They do have that signature By Terry Scent to them but not off-putting. These apply smoothly and are not sticky. With the five of them, you are pretty much set for the year until next year's collection comes out.
This is true collectible. It is highly luxurious. It contains 16ml of solid perfume. It is 6cm by 5 cm. Made from from black zamask, the is case embossed with the signature Diptyque oval. It certainly is quite heavy for how small it is. About 300 grams. This is an very luxurious gift.
This contains a solid perfume that is fairly strong. Just a few dabs behind the ear and in your decolletage is enough. It is very travel/bag friendly and comes with a pretty cloth pouch.

Hourglass Ambient® Lighting Edit Brush RRPA$67
EVERYONE goes crazy for Hourglass. I've loved their products since they were first launched in the USA. I believe I have every Ambient powder, ambient blush and bronzer, or and every palette they've released so far! So for first-timers and true Hourglass fans, this palette is a must. It is travel friendly as most palettes are but WOW, this year, it comes in a "marble" compact. It is fairly light. Last year's version came in the standard shiny bronze brown colour.
This palette was one of the first releases for the Holiday collection. I think it is because last year's version sold out so quickly.
It comes with completely new shades (last year I believe, included small versions of existing shades). There are two Ambient® Lighting Blushes in Brilliant Nude and Nude Glow, an Ambient® Lighting Powder in Nude Light, an Ambient® Lighting Bronzer in Nude Bronze Light and a jumbo-sized Ambient® Strobe Lighting Powder in Nude Strobe Light.

It is very beautiful. I think the Ambient Lighting Edit Brush is the perfect companion to this palette. It is a dual ended brush, one more pointed and one more of a standard blush shape. They are the perfect size to dip into this palette. I highly recommend Hourglass' brushes as they are so good and soft. They are well made and have never shed.
Get this palette and brush before you regret it.
I was a bit disappointed by Stila's 2016 Holiday Collection. They came out with these fabulous and romantic sets last year. This year, they came out with some liquid lipstick sets (shades of which I have) and some eyeliner sets. They didn't release any new eyeshadow sets. I think it is because they have fairly recently released a few eye and face palettes (I'll talk about them in another post).
This is their highlighting palette. Very exciting. I don't think I have many highlighters from Stila except for one in "Kitten" in a cream formula.
It has a multi-dimensional effect. There are fairly chunky glitters in them but not too chunky. It's not like where you are going to get glitter falling all over your face. The palette includes three shades: Transcendence (an opalescent pink for a bold, ethereal glow), Kitten (Stila's iconic shimmering nude pink that brightens and illuminates) and Bronze (creates a radiant, sun-kissed glow).

OKAY. If you follow me on Instagram (which you should, because I do mini reviews on there too), you will know I am obsessed with this collection. Admittedly, I was obsessed with last year's NARS Steven Klein collection too. I think it has something to do with my affinity with photographers.
This collection is DREAMY and ROMANTIC. The images that Sarah Moon has created are stunning. I can't get them out of my mind. They are romantic and futuristic. There was a video of the whole creative process on the NARS website, but they seem to have taken it down. You should see the little clips of the videos she did (click here). The accompanying music is so evocative and I think we share the same taste in music. I often listen to music which I photograph to help me create the mode I want when doing my more creative photos.
The packaging on every single item in this collection is AMAZING. Last year's Steven Klein collection had dark rich colours, this year is a softer, romantic and dreamy look. The palettes have a smooth cover with a almost 3D effect with the images overlaid with a fairly thick matte plastic. They are very easy to wipe down, compared to the usual NARS somewhat sticky black packaging.

As the blushes lean towards the peach family, they are suitable for most skin tones. "Albatross" the highlighter is a holy grail for many.

I've included this little kit in my "Everyday" section because each liquid lipstick is perfect for your bag/pocket for touch up's during the day. Each one will last you for quite a long time, as the formula for the Melted Liquid Lipsticks are long lasting.
The kit makes a great stocking stuffer and comes with two Melted Liquified Long Wear Lipstick in "Chihuahua" and "Fig". A Melted Chocolate Liquified Lipstick in "Honey". One of the new favourite Melted Liquified Long Wear Matte Lipstick in "Lady Balls". These are all very wearable shades. I do find the Matte version a bit drying, so make sure you exfoliate your lips first before applying it.
