The Jamberry Effect! Lovely Nails in mins | Jamberry 指甲油贴纸

I was sent a Jamberry kit and some nail wraps to test and review and now, I am a Jamberry convert and addict. Oh dear.

In Australia, the wraps RRPA$22 to A$25.50 (depending on whether they are limited edition ones). They also sometimes have deals where if you buy 3 you get 1 free or similar type deals. They also sell nail polishes for RRP$22 (their very good too but not the focus of this blog) and a super cool gel system called "TruShine" which I have not tried (click here to learn more about that).

In one set of nail wraps, you get 18 strips of various widths. Each strip covers two nails. So the thinner 9 strips cover all of my hand nails and 8 of my toes nails if you want to go "matchy matchy". This is like the "why do sausages come in packs of 10 and sausage buns in packs of 8" question. I don't know. Maybe you don't want them on your toes or you have larger nails?!? It really doesn't bother me, because the nails of those baby toes of mine have become so contorted from wearing high heels while working as an M&A lawyer (it's a power thing, can't be the shortest in the room), that you can hardly see them.

The one cool gadget I would recommend (it's not necessary but it's cool) is the mini heater which RRPA$27. You'll see why as I show you how to apply them later on in this blog.

Thoughts | 我的想法

I've been testing them for a few months now. The wraps do differ in terms of thickness. There is a marginal difference which you can feel. Some are thinner, which make them easier to apply, but not last as long. Some are thicker, which, yes, makes them slightly more difficult to apply but they last longer.

I have 29 different types of wraps (i can't bring myself to count them but I have bought quite a few myself), some gifted, the rest I purchased. They come in different textures/finishes: smooth, metallic, glitter, matte etc. I love the variety of designs and finishes. They do limited edition ones, as well as seasonal ones. You will never get bored of browsing through their website.

The average wear of the nail wraps on me is about 2 - 3 weeks. Now that's pretty good. They are pretty tough, because I do a lot of things with my hands (gardening, cleaning, craftwork, sculpting, fixing things around the house, scratching etc etc). The first ones to go are always my two index fingers.

This is a system that works so easily once you get the hang of it. It's pretty much: pick which one, then stick, trim and done. No base coat or top coat required. There is some maintenance as your nails grow out, but I just cut my nails with them still on and with most patterns, they still look fine (the ones that don't look o.k. are the ones with cartoons on them like Snow White's portrait).

You can also choose to use them on your feature nail. There's lots of ways you can stretch out the value of each nail wrap set. Just get creative.

How does it work? | 使用它们的方法

First gather your tools. Some nail polish remover to clean your nails or Jamberry's own nail prep wipes, a pokie stick (I don't know what you call that wooden thing), a nail file, a pair of nail scissors, and I use this other pockie thing - a cuticle trimmer thingamajig I got from Sephora. Your mini heater or a hair dryer (no we won't be drying our hair...). 以上是所有你需要的东西。如果你没有小Jamberry加热器，吹风机也是合适的。

A key step is to get your nails ABSOLUTELY clean and free from any surface oils. The Jamberry nail prep wipes are really handy for this (they are perfect for travel), but you can use your regular nailpolish remover as well. 非常重要的是，你的指甲是干净的，没有油性。这将有助于指甲贴更好。您可以使用指甲油去除剂或Jamberry指甲准备擦拭剂来清洁它们。

Next, choose the right size of sticker for your nail. This was a bit tricky for me at the first, as they were either too big or too small. The best thing to do is pick a size slightly smaller. If you can't find one, you might have to trim it to size. Then cut half for one nail.

Take that half of your sticker and heat it up till it goes all floppy. You can use a hair dryer if you don't have the mini-heater, but I do think it's worth investing in a mini-heater if you become a Jamberry fan. It is compact and neat and fit for purpose as it has a fold out stand.

Then, carefully position your sticker on your nail. I try to match up the middle of the pattern with the middle of the nail.

An excellent tip I learnt from the Jamberry PR team was to really s-t-r-e-c-h it out over your nails until it stops to give. Then bend the excess over the tip of your nail.

Another tip I got from Jamberry fans was to use the "cold technique". Which is simply sticking the nail wrap on your nail first before applying heat to melt the adhesive. This method works pretty well for some of the thicker ones. I think after my tests, both methods work well.

You then use your "pokie stick" thing to pull and prod and tuck the sides of the sticker around the edges of your nail. Once heated, the nail wrap become fairly malleable, you can stretch out the pattern a tiny fraction. 下一步，使用角质层捅戳并拉动贴纸的两侧，使其贴合您的指甲。贴纸是相当有延展性，和易于使用。

File off the access, trim rough bits with a pair of nail scissors (those work best as they are curved). Then, as a final step, heat the nail wrap again to seal it off.

Some like to tuck a bit of the nail wrap under their nails. This works too. I do this sometimes but more often then not, I trim right to nail edge as having a thicker nail tip makes it harder for me to do stuff.
